We will be having a quilt show and sale on September 1, 2008 ( Labor Day) at the Paarlberg Farm (172nd & Paxton, South Holland, Illinois 60473) as a part of the Heritage Festival.
We will have a variety of quilts for sale or just to enjoy. The quilts are all made by hand by our talented members. Beautiful quilts of all sizes and styles will be reasonably priced. A portion of the proceeds will go to our various service project s, to help those in need in our surrounding community.
We will also raffle a traditional style hand-made, full-size quilt (see photo below). The quilt is sewn by our members and tickets will be on sale the day of the fest with a winner announced that day. Part of the proceeds from the quilt raffle will go to the South Holland Historical Society.

Our new guild service project will be to provide quilts for wounded soldiers. We will be working through Quilts of Valor (www.qovf.org), an agency which is taking part in a nationwide effort to provide our wounded soldiers with a quilt to show them how much we appreciate their dedication to our country. As you can imagine, there is a need for many quilts.
Our library is for our members who have the privilege of checking out quilting related books, magazines and videos for one month. A late fee will be charged per book, per month. New books and magazines are added monthly.
Batting is available at or near cost to members. Orders placed by a member will be delivered at the next guild meeting, at which time payment is due. Various sizes and types are available. For more information on our batting sale please fill out the form on the "Contact Us" page of this website.
Members may participate by bringing in their used books and/or patterns. A piece of masking tape with their name, the book/pattern title, asking price, and date submitted must be on the item. All monies will be returned to the seller at the next guild meeting. Items can be bought and sold throughout the year.
There are door prize drawings at each guild meeting. All members are eligible for the door prize drawing if they are wearing their member's badge and/or nametag. One prize per member per year.
There is a "Show & Tell" time at each meeting. Members may bring completed projects to share with the guild.
The Laurel Star is published five times per year (Sept/Oct, Nov/Dec, Jan/Feb, Mar/Apr, May/June). New members will have their names added to the mailing list and their name and information will be included in the next newsletter in order to keep our directory current. Members are encouraged to submit items of interest to the newsletter chairperson. Deadline for articles is usually the guild meeting prior to publication of the next edition.
Members can choose to receive their newsletter by email in PDF format by choosing the option when joining or renewing membership, or anytime by contacting the newsletter chairperson.
Our guild presents a quilt show every other year. The show features over 200 quilts made by our members. We also have a boutique of hand-made items for sale, small quilt sale, vendor mall, door prizes, featured quilter and a raffle for a full-size hand-made quilt.
During the years we do not have a quilt show we sponsor a bus trip to various regions of the United States, visiting areas that feature unique quilt shops as well as other shopping and sight seeing that would be of interest to our members.
For more infornation on our guild activities please fill out the form on the Contact Us page of this website or send an email to: quilting@heritagequilts.org.
